Government of Canada Hails Inauguration of New Recreational Facilities in Municipality of Packington

This Bas-Saint-Laurent community's new recreational infrastructures will extend and diversify the use of the skating rink while creating multi-sport fields that the entire population can enjoy

PACKINGTON, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - June 6, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, welcomes the inauguration of the new recreational facilities of the Municipality of Packington. The project consisted in expanding and improving an existing community infrastructure to enrich the quality of life in the Municipality.

Assistance was granted for this project in the form of a non-repayable financial contribution of $290,000 through CED's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund.

Quick facts

  • This funding enabled the Municipality of Packington to cover the skating rink. The work also included expanding the recreational area for a multi-sport field (soft ball, soccer and volleyball).

  • This project contributed to the growth of the local economy by using area labour to carry out these improvements.
