Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, took advantage of his first official visit to Quebec to meet with numerous Quebec business leaders at the Centre d'entreprises et d'innovation de Montréal, located in the Quartier de l'innovation. Minister Bains was joined by Mr. Greg Fergus, his Parliamentary Secretary, and Marc Miller, Member of Parliament for the riding of Ville-Marie-Le Sud-Ouest-Île-des-Sœurs.
The focus of today's discussions was innovation and, in particular, the importance of clean technologies and information technologies in the digital economy.
Minister Bains met with business leaders from the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montréal to talk about success factors in developing a culture of innovation in Canada. This was followed by a networking event during which ten Estrie, Mauricie and Gaspésie enterprises, among others, took part in discussions on the theme of innovation and clean technologies.
The Minister also underlined the Government of Canada's financial support to Société du Quartier de l'innovation de Montréal.
