CHELSEA, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - June 21, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, announced the awarding of $284,000 in financial assistance to the Table agroalimentaire de l'Outaouais (TAO) for the next three fiscal years. That amount will enable the organization to run marketing projects outside Quebec and hold activities, such as the Fête gourmande de l'Outaouais, to support the agri-food companies in the Outaouais area and their products.
Business opportunities in the agri-food industry are an excellent source of economic growth for the country. The Government of Canada is proud to support projects, like those of the TAO, that will bring about economic benefits and ensure the prosperity of our communities.
The TAO, founded in 1997, is a non-profit organization that establishes and coordinates the agri-food sector's priorities. It supports the marketing, promoting and strengthening of companies in that sector and their products. The funding is awarded in the form of a non-repayable contribution under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.
"The Government of Canada is committed to actively supporting organizations that bring vitality to our business communities and prepare Canada for the future. The Fête gourmande is an excellent showcase for local products. It enables the participating companies to do such things as develop new business partnerships and give visitors the opportunity to make great discoveries. The outstanding quality of the programming presented today speaks of the breadth of the offering by the agri-food creators in the Outaouais area."
