Government of Canada Lends Financial Support to Deville Motel for Modernization Project

ROUYN-NORANDA, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 23, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of State for Canada Economic Development, today announced the granting of $497,480 in repayable funding to Deville motel for improvements to the quality of its accommodations and the expansion of the range of services it offers.

"Canada Economic Development was quick to lend its financial support to this Deville motel project. Not only will these planned upgrades help the motel increase its occupancy rate, they are also sure to enhance the tourism offering in the region," explained Minister of State Lebel.

The funding of growth-generating projects like this one is made possible through Canada Economic Development's Community Diversification program. A total of $1.4 million in funding is being allocated to this project by its various financial partners.

Tourism is a promising growth sector of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region, as are mining and the processing of agri-food and forest products. It is therefore in these priority areas that Canada Economic Development has decided to focus its development efforts in the region.
