Government of Canada Lends Financial Support to Logistics and Transportation Metropolitan Cluster of Montreal

MONTRÉAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Nov. 12, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that the Grappe métropolitaine de la logistique et du transport de Montréal (which goes by the name Cargo Montréal) has been granted financial assistance to conduct a study on this industry.

"This injection of money into the Grappe métropolitaine de la logistique et du transport de Montréal is yet another example of our Government's firm commitment to boost the economy, jobs and prosperity in Quebec communities," said Minister Lebel.

Cargo Montréal brings together enterprises and other stakeholders in the freight logistics and transportation sector. The organization's mission is to make Montréal known, through structuring projects, as a hub in this field. It also intends to address the concerns of its members as well as attract a skilled workforce.

The Agency's contribution will help paint a clear picture of this industry for the benefit of small and medium-sized enterprises as well as all the regions of Quebec. Furthermore, this study will enable Cargo Montréal to focus its action in such a way as to improve performance in the sector.
