Government of Canada Provides Financial Support for Productivity Improvements at La Source d'eau Val-d'Or

VAL-D'OR, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 18, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of State for Canada Economic Development, today announced the awarding of $55,375 in repayable funding to La Source d'eau Val-d'Or.

"I am proud that Canada Economic Development is supporting La Source d'eau Val-d'Or and taking concrete action to help this firm improve its competitiveness and further the economic diversification of Abitibi-Témiscamingue," explained Minister of State Lebel.

This contribution from Canada Economic Development has been awarded through the Community Adjustment Fund, a measure established under the Government of Canada's economic action plan to fund growth-generating projects like this La Source d'eau Val-d'Or initiative. The firm used this assistance for the acquisition of strategic equipment to be able to offer consumers a new choice of container, improve its manufacturing capacity and bolster sales.

La Source d'eau Val-d'Or specializes in the demineralization and bottling of water. The enterprise also offers a full range of maintenance services, including water quality control through pump testing, along with water treatment and monitoring. The company also sells water coolers and provides cleaning services.

The new equipment is a bagging machine for demineralized water that uses 500 ml, 5.5 litre and 11 litre biodegradable bags. These are inserted into a second biodegradable bag to facilitate product handling during transport, particularly over long hauls.
