Government of Canada Renews Funding of Foire gourmande de l'Abitibi-Temiscamingue et du Nord-Est ontarien

VILLE-MARIE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 15, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the Foire gourmande de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue et du Nord-Est ontarien has been granted financial assistance to support its commercialization strategy for 2013 and 2014.

"By renewing its support for the promotional activities of the Foire gourmande de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue et du Nord-Est ontarien, the Government of Canada is contributing to the growth of the tourism industry and giving a boost to the agri-food sector," said Minister Lebel.

The purpose of this annual gastronomical rendezvous is to promote the Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Northeastern Ontario bio-food industry, develop agri-tourism and showcase agro-processing products. The Foire seeks to make the most of the unique niche it occupies in Abitibi-Témiscamingue by organizing new activities to enhance and highlight local products.

The funding from Canada Economic Development will enable the event's organizers to, among others, advertise on television, radio and social media, map out a Web strategy, set up a culinary station where visitors can sample the creations of chefs as they go and conduct a study on economic spinoffs.

Information:

This assistance, granted in the form of a $228,640 non-repayable contribution, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.
