Government of Canada Salutes Arrival of Quebec and Montreal Grands Prix Cyclistes 2013

QUÉBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 13, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, took the opportunity of today's official kick-off of the fourth Québec and Montréal Grands Prix Cyclistes to reemphasize the financial support granted by the Government of Canada for these races, the only two UCI WorldTour events to be held this side of the Atlantic.

"By funding the Québec and Montréal Grands Prix Cyclistes, the Government of Canada is showing it is committed to promoting the growth of tourism, a profitable sector for the Quebec economy," said Minister Lebel.

Canada Economic Development has been a partner of the Québec and Montréal Grands Prix Cyclistes from the outset. This latest funding was granted for audiovisual production activities and for the commercialization of the races in more than 80 countries. This includes the creation of promotional materials and tourism vignettes on the cities of Québec and Montréal, the hosting of foreign journalists, the televised broadcast of the races and the updating of the official event Web site.

Information:

This assistance, provided in the form of a $1,800,000 non-repayable financial contribution covering the event's 2013 and 2014 editions, was awarded through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.
