Alpine Canada Alpin receives Government of Canada funding to host 2014 Audi FIS Nakiska Ski Cross World Cup

On behalf of the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), John Barlow, Member of Parliament (Macleod), attended the 2014 Audi FIS Nakiska Ski Cross World Cup race and took part in the awards ceremony.

  • This is the third year that Alpine Canada Alpin has hosted the Audi FIS Nakiska Ski Cross World Cup at the Nakiska Mountain Resort in Kanaskis, Alberta.
  • This annual event attracts 119 athletes from 17 countries.
  • The 2014 Audi FIS Nakiska Ski Cross World Cup will feature 11 Canadian carded athletes, 8 Canadian coaches and 100 Canadian officials.
  • Alpine Canada Alpin is receiving $175,000 through Sport Canada's Hosting Program to host the 2014 Audi FIS Nakiska Ski Cross World Cup.
  • For the fiscal year 2014-15, Sport Canada is providing up to $4,481,500 to Alpine Canada Alpin through its Sport Support Program.
