Government of Canada Supports an Integrated Community Sustainability Plan in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue

SAINTE-ANNE-DE-BELLEVUE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 12, 2012) - The Honourable Joe Oliver, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources, along with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), today announced $78,401 in support for development of an integrated community sustainability plan in the Town of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. The plan will incorporate energy sustainability into the social fabric of the community.

"Through the Green Municipal Fund, our Government is supporting energy-efficient projects in municipalities across Canada to help lower costs, save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions," said Minister Oliver. "Our investment, in partnership with the FCM, demonstrates our commitment to assist communities like the Town of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue in building a greener future."

The integrated community sustainability plan encompasses all of the town's sustainable development objectives for the next eight years in the priority areas of water, energy, waste management, transportation, the economy, green spaces and community well-being.

The Government of Canada has endowed the FCM with $550 million to establish the Green Municipal Fund™. The Fund supports partnerships and the leveraging of both public- and private-sector funding to reach higher standards of air, water and soil quality, and climate protection.
