QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Feb. 10, 2016) - Canada Economic Development (CED) for Quebec Regions
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, announced today that the Government of Canada has awarded a non-repayable contribution of $175,500 to the organization Quebec Snow Sports Events to support the marketing of Jamboree 2016 outside Quebec. The financial assistance is provided under the Quebec Economic Development Program.
Quick facts
- This year's competition will draw roughly 60 athletes from about 15 countries.
- Since 2010, CED has been supporting this competition (formerly known as Snowboard Jamboree) through funding amounting to over $825,000.
- CED's support will help with publicizing this sporting event and Quebec's and the region's winter attractions all across North America, Europe and Asia.
- The event is being held through the cooperation of a large number of public and private partners.
- A 2014 study revealed that, out of 15 competitions in the Snowboard World Cup, the one in Quebec receives the broadest media coverage on television. Broadcast live, the competition will be watched by millions of spectators.
- Jamboree 2016 will be completely urban, showing off the beauty of Old Quebec City.
