Government of Canada Supports Ontario Firm Through Build in Canada Innovation Program

CAMPBELLFORD, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 10, 2016) - Public Services and Procurement Canada

The Government of Canada is committed to growing the economy and the middle class, and helping those working hard to join it. Through the Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP), the Government of Canada is investing in Canadian innovations to create inclusive and sustainable economic growth for communities across Canada.

Kim Rudd, Member of Parliament for Northumberland-Peterborough South, on behalf of the Honourable Judy M. Foote, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, today announced that the Government of Canada is investing in an innovative technology that tests aircraft braking performance on runway surface conditions.

Team Eagle Ltd., of Campbellford, Ontario, received a $501,481.05 contract for the Runway Aircraft Braking Availability Tester. The innovation, which is mounted on a truck, will provide data on how runways covered in snow, slush or water affect aircraft braking systems, allowing pilots to make informed decisions on landings and takeoffs. This innovation will be tested by Transport Canada.

The investment was made through the Build in Canada Innovation Program, which helps Canadian innovators land their first sale and get their innovations tested by the Government of Canada. This program is just one of the many ways the Government of Canada supports innovation and small and medium-sized businesses across Canada.

Canadian innovators can submit their proposals on the program's website.
