Government of Canada Welcomes the 2014 Grands Prix Cyclistes de Quebec et de Montreal

QUÉBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - June 3, 2014) - Canada Economic Development

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced funding from the Government of Canada to the Grands Prix Cyclistes de Québec et de Montréal for a fifth consecutive year.

This assistance for the 2014 races has been awarded in the form of a $900,000 non-repayable financial contribution through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.

  • Canada Economic Development has been supporting the Grands Prix Cyclistes de Québec et de Montréal races since their very first edition.
  • The funding announced today will be used for television production and commercialization activities in more than 130 countries.
  • These two world-class cycling races contribute significantly to the economic and tourism development of Québec and Montréal. In 2013, they generated over $31 million in direct and indirect spinoffs in Canada.
