Government of Canada Welcomes the 2014 Grands Prix Cyclistes de Quebec et de Montreal


QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 10, 2014) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today participated in the official opening of the fifth edition of the Grands Prix Cyclistes de Québec et de Montréal. He took the opportunity to note that the Government of Canada granted funding for these two cycling competitions, the only transatlantic leg of the International Cycling Union's WorldTour races.

Quick facts

  • CED has supported the Grands Prix Cyclistes de Québec et de Montréal since their very first edition.

  • The $900,000 in funding announced in June will be used for television and commercialization activities in more than 130 countries.

  • These two cycling races make a significant contribution to the economic and tourism development of Québec and Montréal. In 2013, they generated more than $31 million in direct and indirect benefits for Canada.
