Government of Canada Welcomes Inauguration of Societe d'agriculture du comte de Lotbiniere Renovated Service Pavilion

SAINT-AGAPIT, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - May 23, 2014) - Canada Economic Development

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière-Chutes-de-la-Chaudière and Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister for Official Languages and for the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today took part in the official inauguration of the Société d'agriculture du comté de Lotbinière's renovated service pavilion.

It will be recalled that the Government of Canada granted assistance for this project in the form of a $152,179 non-repayable financial contribution through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund.

Quick facts

  • Founded in 1853, the Société d'agriculture du comté de Lotbinière organizes the annual Expo de Lotbinière, a major commercial farming and agrifood exhibition in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.
  • The organization's project consisted of, among other things, renovating, expanding and reconfiguring the interior of the service pavilion, the main facility used for the agricultural fair and an important venue for large-scale provincial events drawing numerous visitors.
  • The population of Lotbinière now has an improved community infrastructure to help further the growth of its local economy.
