Government Fleet Summit to Feature Greener Propane-Powered Technology

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - November 20, 2013) - On November 21st, the Propane Council of Texas plans to highlight cleaner, domestically produced propane autogas at the Government Solutions Team Public Fleet Summit at the Holiday Inn Arboretum in Austin. The Government Solutions Team holds educational summits across the nation with the goal of connecting public works directors, fleet managers and others with expert technology, networking resources and innovative solutions.

Between 30-50 fleet and facilities professionals from across Texas and neighboring states are expected to attend Thursday's event. From 10:30am - 12:00pm, the Propane Council of Texas (ProCOT) and other organizations will display fleet technologies in the parking lot, including a propane-powered pick-up truck and a propane zero-turn commercial mower. Attendees will get the opportunity to have a hands-on experience with propane autogas technology and speak to propane industry professionals about the benefits of powering their fleet with greener propane autogas.

"Propane autogas is a great fit for local governments," said Jackie Mason, Education & Marketing Director for the Propane Council of Texas. "Fleets across Texas that have switched to autogas are experiencing significant fuel savings, longer engine life and are contributing to cleaner air for their community."

Local governments across Texas that are choosing cleaner-burning propane include everything from city and county transits to public works trucks. Government fleets can find platforms straight from the vehicle manufacturer. Both Ford and GM carry the propane option in a number of platforms through their fleet division, or fleets have the option to convert with a wide variety of Environmental Protection Agency-certified conversion kits on the market.

The Propane Council of Texas (ProCOT) is participating in the Government Solutions Team Public Fleet Summit as part of its Propane Autogas: Fueling Texas campaign. The public awareness campaign has traveled across the state to educate Texas fleets about the benefits of running vehicles and mowers on cleaner-burning propane autogas.
