BC Coroners Service identifies deceased snowmobiler

KELOWNA - The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a snowmobiling incident near Golden on March 29, 2013.

He was Leonard Kevin Pare, aged 52, of Calgary, Alberta.

Mr. Pare was snowmobiling with a family member on March 29 in the Lange Creek area about 15 kilometres north of Golden. In the early afternoon while in an area known as Grizzly Bowl, Mr. Pare accidentally drove his snowmobile off the edge of a snow cornice, landing on rocks about eight metres below. Despite lengthy resuscitation efforts by family, other nearby snowmobilers and search-and-rescue volunteers, Mr. Pare died before reaching hospital.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. Pare has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
