2015 TELUS Cup organizing committee focuses on drawing fans from outside Quebec to Rivière-du-Loup for tournament featuring Canada's top 6 AAA midget hockey teams

RIVIÈRE-DU-LOUP, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - April 1, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the 2015 TELUS Cup organizing committee has been granted funding to carry out a commercialization strategy for this year's event on markets outside Quebec.

This support is being awarded in the form of a $35,025 non-repayable financial contribution through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

  • The tournament, which takes place in Rivière-du-Loup from April 20 to 26, 2015, will welcome Canada's six top-ranked AAA midget hockey teams.
  • The funding will be used for the development of a commercialization strategy that will include marketing and public relations activities as well as the production of promotional materials and television spots.
  • The aim is to attract a greater number of sports fans to the event, which is only held in Quebec once every five years, on average. The media coverage generated by the event will help serve as a tourism showcase for the Bas-Saint-Laurent region.

Quote

"By lending financial support to the 2015 TELUS Cup, our government is demonstrating its commitment to fostering the growth of tourism, a profitable sector for the Bas-Saint-Laurent economy."
