Sonja Chong appointed part-time member of the Board of Directors

The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced the appointment of Sonja Chong as a part-time member of the Board of Directors of CBC/Radio-Canada for a term of five years, effective October 9, 2014.

Quick Facts

  • Ms. Chong has been involved in income tax consulting since 1985 and has been a partner with Harris & Chong LLP, Chartered Accountants, in North York since 1991. Her practice focuses on tax planning, estate and succession planning, and real estate investments.
  • She is currently chair of the Canadian Foundation for Chinese Heritage Preservation and is a former president of the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association. She has sat on the Board of Governors of the Canadian Tax Foundation. She has also received a Volunteer Services Award from the Government of Ontario.
  • Ms. Chong has presented at more than 150 income tax seminars and contributed various tax articles in specialized magazines. She has participated in a series of television shows and has been invited as a media commentator on tax-related issues.
