Government of Canada Announces Location of New Kelowna Passport Office

GATINEAU, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - April 6, 2009) - The Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, and Ron Cannan, Member of Parliament for Kelowna-Lake Country, on behalf of the Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Public Works and Government Services, today announced the future location of the new Passport Canada office in Kelowna, British Columbia.

"It was a great moment when we got the news that we were being awarded one of the few new passport offices in the country," said Minister Day. "Our constituents will no longer have to travel to the coast to get their passport services."

The new Kelowna Passport Office will be located at 110- 1835 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC- also known as the Capri Centre in Kelowna.

RG Properties Ltd. of Vancouver was awarded the lease contract (512 square metres rentable) on March 29, 2009, for a ten-year term (with one five year renewal option). RG Properties is a real estate services company based in Vancouver with approximately 400 employees and sales of $20-40 million. The Chief Executive Officer and President is Graham Lee.

Ron Cannan, MP Kelowna Lake Country commented, "I am excited that the Passport Office location has been secured and the process is moving forward as per our Government's commitment. This convenient Central Okanagan location will save our constituents time and money as they will not have to travel to Vancouver or Surrey to expedite their passports."

Public Works and Government Services Canada awarded the lease contract to RG Properties Ltd. on behalf of Passport Canada following a fair, open and transparent process. Site improvements will commence on site immediately in order to meet the occupancy date of March 1, 2010.
