Government of Canada Celebrates World Poetry Day

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 21, 2011) - World Poetry Day is an opportunity for Canadians to rediscover Canadian poets, while others may acquaint themselves with the genre by reading some the great classics.

Our Government believes that poetry and literary creation hold a special place in the hearts of Canadians. The works of our poets allow us to look at ourselves in a different light, learn about our history, and appreciate our cultural heritage.

I invite all Canadians to celebrate this special day dedicated to creative expression. I would also like to commend all of the poets who help preserve Canada's literary scene for future generations.
