Government of Canada Employees Recognized for Excellence


OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 11, 2012) - Today, 252 outstanding employees were recognized during the annual Public Service Award of Excellence ceremony.

"The work of the recipients is diverse; negotiating with partners on complex policies, providing opportunities for new Canadian families to experience Canada's natural and historic places, and working to preserve ecologically sensitive spaces. The recipients share characteristics that are inherent to the idea of 'excellence,'" noted Wayne G. Wouters, Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet. "Integrity, commitment and drive are at the heart of their accomplishments and the foundation of the public service of the future."

The Public Service Award of Excellence is a non-monetary award presented annually during National Public Service Week. The award was given in the following 10 categories: excellence in citizen-focused service delivery; employment equity and diversity; exemplary contribution under extraordinary circumstances; innovation; management excellence; official languages; outstanding career; youth; excellence in policy; and the new scientific contribution category.
