Government of Canada Funds Centre d'entrepreneurship nordique

CHIBOUGAMAU, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 30, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the Centre d'entrepreneurship nordique (CEN) has been granted financial assistance from the Government of Canada to pursue its activities over the next three years.

"The Government of Canada is pleased to lend its support to organizations that, like the Centre d'entrepreneurship nordique, are carrying out initiatives to promote entrepreneurship and putting measures in place to help keep existing small and medium-sized enterprises in the regions," said Minister Lebel.

Founded in 2002, the CEN is dedicated to stimulating entrepreneurship in Nord-du-Québec communities. To that end, the organization offers consulting and coaching services and has set up a mentoring program and information activities on business startup, business succession and the development of existing enterprises. The funding from the Government of Canada will enable the CEN to, among other things, organize various workshops, disseminate newsletters, develop promotional tools and update its Web site.

This $195,000 non-repayable contribution has been granted through Canada Economic Development's Community Diversification program, an initiative whose objectives include sustaining communities through entrepreneurship support and the creation and maintenance of viable enterprises.
