Government of Canada Funds Ecotourism Development in Eastern Townships

EASTMAN, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Dec. 21, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the firm 9220-7174 Québec Inc. (Le Vertendre) has been granted funding for the launch of an innovative tourist lodging concept in the Eastern Townships called Fun-Box.

"By investing in the development of ecotourism in the Eastern Townships, the Government of Canada is illustrating its firm commitment to supporting the economy and job creation in the region," said Minister Lebel.

The enterprise will use this financial assistance to acquire 10 small, high-end stilt cabins that will be set up in the forest. These comfortable, modern and fully energy-autonomous four-person lodging units will only be accessible on foot, via hiking trails.

This $400,000 repayable contribution has been granted through Canada Economic Development's Community Diversification program, an initiative whose objectives include funding the development of the tourism offering in Quebec.
