Government of Canada Funds Festival International de Danse Encore

TROIS-RIVIÈRES, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 4, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announces that the Festival International de Danse Encore has been granted $69,450 in non-repayable funding to promote its festival in Europe.

"The Festival International de Danse Encore has grown steadily since its inception 17 years ago. Each year, the Festival draws thousands of dance enthusiasts from here and all over, which generates economic benefits for the region," said Minister Lebel.

Canada Economic Development's financial support will enable the Festival, which is already present on Canadian and U.S. markets, to intensify its commercialization activities in Italy and Spain. The Festival organizers will be visiting these countries as part of a promotional tour this coming November. Also planned are the revamping of the Festival Web site and the development of promotional tools.

The financial assistance announced today has been awarded through the Community Diversification program, an initiative which includes supporting tourism development in Quebec's regions.
