"By lending its financial assistance to the Tour de la relève internationale de Rimouski, the Government of Canada is demonstrating its firm commitment to promoting the development of tourism, a high-yield sector for the economy," said Minister Lebel.

"The financial support of partners like Canada Economic Development is enabling the region to host, for a third consecutive year, the Tour de la relève internationale de Rimouski, a bicycle race that draws more than 200 cyclists from Canada, the United States and Europe," said Michel Fugère, Director General of the organization that coordinates the Tour.

For amateur cyclists, the Tour de la relève internationale de Rimouski is an essential step along the path to the professional ranks. A race sanctioned by the International Cycling Union for junior female cyclists has been added to the 2012 Tour schedule.
