Government of Canada Grants Funding to C2-MTL


MONTRÉAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - May 22, 2012) - Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Senator Jean-Guy Dagenais, today announced that the organization C2-MTL has been granted funding to organize the first in a series of annual global conferences on commerce, creativity and the business environment called C2-MTL from May 22 to 25, 2012.

"The Government of Canada is giving another boost to economic growth and job creation with this support to C2-MTL. This conference will be a unique opportunity to promote creativity and innovation as important catalysts of economic development, wealth and prosperity," said Senator Dagenais.

"We are very pleased to receive this support from the Government of Canada. These C2-MTL conferences will be an exceptional showcase for participating businesses. Through high-calibre meetings, workshops and networking activities, these events will help create a climate conducive to investment and collaboration among firms from here and all over," added Benoît Berthiaume, executive producer of C2-MTL.

C2-MTL is a non-profit organization founded by various players of the Montréal business community, including entrepreneurs, creators and organizations. Intended for business leaders and key influencers from all over the world, the conferences will focus on the themes of creativity and innovation as the driving forces of value-building for businesses in many strategic sectors of the Quebec economy. The organization is hoping to draw as many as 1,000 participants from innovative enterprises in numerous sectors, including the cultural industry, in the goal of fostering innovation and business competitiveness.

This funding has been granted in the form of a $750,000 non-repayable contribution through Canada Economic Development's Business and Regional Growth program. The assistance will serve primarily for the promotion of the 2012 C2-MTL conference and for the organization of networking activities.
