Government of Canada Hails Inauguration of Centre Goyette-Ruel's New Facilities

AMOS, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Nov. 27, 2014) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, welcomes the official opening of Centre Goyette-Ruel's new community facilities. The project consisted of consolidating an infrastructure that provides some 50 community organizations and almost 200 Abitibi RCM volunteers with access to meeting rooms and equipment at low cost.

Assistance was granted for this project in the form of a $324,706 non-repayable financial contribution through CED's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund.

Quick facts

  • This financial support enabled the Corporation de développement communautaire d'Amos to make improvements to the building housing the community centre known as Centre Goyette-Ruel.
  • The work included installing a ventilation and air conditioning system, as well as retrofitting the heating system and windows.
  • These improvements were carried out using local labour, thus contributing to the growth of the Amos economy.

Quote
