Government of Canada Injects $650,000 in Saguenay Economy

SAINT-PRIME, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Jan. 23, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that two businesses in the Regional County Municipality RCM) of Domaine-du-Roy have been granted financial assistance for productivity enhancement.

This support, awarded through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program, is being provided in the form of two repayable contributions totalling $650,000, one of $300,000 for Albert Perron Inc. and the other of $350,000 for Les Produits Gilbert Inc.

• The funding granted to Albert Perron Inc., an SME that manufactures a variety of world renowned cheeses, consists of three parts: rapid cooling of whey in order to maintain its quality, whey heat recovery to warm wash water, and the concentration of the product. The purchase of silos, heat exchangers, control panels, piping and a concentrator will help the company meet its fixed targets.
• As for Les Produits Gilbert Inc., which specializes in the manufacture and merchandizing of forestry, sawmilling and construction equipment, as well as grooming machines for the maintenance of snowmobile trails, the investment will go to the acquisition of a digital control machine for machining aluminium parts, which will help boost its productivity.
