Government of Canada Injects Over $650,000 in Témiscouata Economy

SAINT-EUSÈBE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Jan. 20, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière-Chutes-de-la-Chaudière and Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, for Official Languages and for the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that two companies and one organization from Témiscouata have been granted financial assistance for startup activities, productivity enhancement and infrastructure improvement.

This support, awarded through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP) and Local Investment Initiative (LII), a component of the QEDP, is being provided in the form of three contributions, two repayable and one non-repayable, totalling $658,988.

Promoter Contribution - Investment - Project description
Écoced (9304-4329 Québec Inc.) Repayable contribution of $500,000 on a total investment of $1,717,810.

Écoced is a new firm incorporated in June 2014 that is gearing up to manufacture natural and stained cedar mulch for sale in bulk, bags and bales.

The assistance will support the start-up of Écoced by enabling the Saint-Eusèbe company to, among other things, set up an automated bagging and palletizing line, acquire a pallet wrapping machine and a conveyor and construct a new building.
Les Bardeaux Lajoie Inc. Repayable contribution of $149,000 on a total investment of $425,100.

Les Bardeaux Lajoie is a manufacturer of white cedar shingles and shims for the building industry. The SME, which sells its primary products to distributors, has developed major partnerships, including one with J.D. Irving to supply the Home Depot chain in the United States.

The company's project is aimed at improving productivity through the acquisition of specialized manufacturing equipment such as shingle measurers, which include an automated management system and sorting conveyors.

Association sportive de St-Eusèbe Inc.








Non-repayable contribution of $9,988 on a total investment of $19,976.

Association sportive de St-Eusèbe is a non-profit organization (NPO) dedicated to organizing activities for local residents. It operates a community infrastructure with two recreational halls that are open and available to the public.

The funded project involves the purchase and installation of new doors and windows for the building owned by the NPO and housing these two community halls. This renovation will ensure better accessibility to the building for residents and the general public.
