Government of Canada Lends Financial Support to CTT Group


SAINT-HYACINTHE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - July 16, 2012) - Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, Mr. Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière-Chutes-de-la-Chaudière, today announced that the CTT Group has been granted funding for the acquisition of specialized equipment that will enable the organization to test and analyze protective clothing used by first responders for its clients and assess and certify the compliance of these products with the standards respecting volatile organic compound content.

"The Government of Canada's main priority is job creation, growth and long-term prosperity," stated Mr. Gourde. "Our financial support for CTT Group's project constitutes further acknowledgment of the fundamental role played by enterprises in that regard."

Through this project, the CTT Group will be able to continue helping textile companies in the region and throughout the province improve their competitiveness. The organization also intends to undertake various research and technology transfer projects for the benefit of small and medium-sized enterprises. The Group offers a broad range of technical, commercial and informational services to help manufacturers in their innovation and product and market development efforts.

The CTT Group, a non-profit organization established in 1987, includes more than 100 enterprises and organizations dedicated to the development of the Quebec and Canadian textile, geosynthetics and flexible materials industries.

This financial assistance, granted in the form of a $990,000 non-repayable contribution, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Business and Regional Growth program.
