Government of Canada Lends Financial Support to Douceurs des Iles Inc.

L'ÉTANG-DU-NORD, QUÉBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 11, 2012) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the firm Douceurs des Îles Inc. has been granted financial assistance to set up the production areas of its new processing plant and acquire manufacturing equipment.

"The economy and job creation are top priorities for the Government of Canada. The contribution we are announcing today to Douceurs des Îles Inc. illustrates our firm commitment to supporting efforts to diversify the regional economy," said Minister Lebel.

Founded in 1997, Douceurs des Îles Inc. specializes in the manufacture of products made from berries grown on Îles-de-la-Madeleine. Over the years, the company has earned a name for itself on the terroir-products market and plays an active part in generating tourism spinoffs for the region. This financial contribution from Canada Economic Development will enable Douceurs des Îles Inc. to acquire high-performance equipment and increase the volume of berries processed, thereby allowing the enterprise to answer the growing demand for its products and expand into new markets, such as the Maritimes.
