Government of Canada Lends Financial Support to Metcor Inc.

SAINT-EUSTACHE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 24, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that Metcor Inc. has been granted funding from the Government of Canada to purchase specialized equipment. This acquisition will allow the firm to improve the quality of its finished products and better meet the technical requirements of its customers in the aerospace industry.

"The Government of Canada is committed to supporting enterprises that, like Metcor Inc., are doing everything they can to improve their competitiveness and, in so doing, are creating conditions to foster their growth," said Minister Lebel.

Metcor Inc. has been a leader in the heat treatment of metals for more than 50 years, serving customers primarily in the transportation, aerospace and defence sectors. The innovative enterprise recently developed a strategic plan calling for, as a priority, the acquisition of specialized technological equipment to better meet customer needs. This funding from the Government of Canada will enable the firm to carry out this major investment project.

This $300,000 repayable contribution has been granted through Canada Economic Development's Business and Regional Growth program, an initiative aimed at strengthening the conditions conducive to the sustainable growth of Quebec's regions and small and medium-sized enterprises. Metcor Inc. will use the financial assistance to implement ultrasound heat treatment technology and purchase a higher-performance kiln in order to improve the resistance of metals, a characteristic in high demand among its customers, particularly those in the aerospace sector.
