Government of Canada Lends Financial Support to Microbrasserie du Lac Saint-Jean

SAINT-GÉDÉON, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - July 19, 2012) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that Microbrasserie du Lac Saint-Jean has been granted financial assistance to carry out the measures needed to increase its production capacity and productivity.

"This announcement is yet another example of the Government of Canada's commitment to helping enterprises that, like Microbrasserie du Lac Saint-Jean, are making the necessary investments to raise their productivity," said Minister Lebel.

Opened in August 2007 in Saint-Gédéon, Microbrasserie du Lac Saint-Jean quickly earned a reputation for the quality of its homemade ales, whose names and recipes are deeply rooted in the history and local flavour of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. Throughout the years, the company has earned numerous accolades, including, most recently, a bronze medal for its Houblon Libre in the American Black Ale category of the 2012 Canadian Brewing Awards. Today, the microbrewery's products are distributed to some 50 points of sale in Quebec.

Microbrasserie du Lac Saint-Jean intends to use the granted funds to acquire additional equipment, expand its facilities and fine-tune its handling and bottling operations. Completion of this project will enable the enterprise to double its production capabilities.

Information:

This assistance, granted in the form of a $100,000 repayable contribution, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.
