Government of Canada Promotes Bilingual Services in St. Vital

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - Feb. 22, 2011) - Winnipeg and area residents will continue to receive easy, convenient and bilingual access to a wide range of federal programs and services from the St. Vital Service Canada Centre. Ms. Shelly Glover, Member of Parliament for Saint Boniface, on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, celebrated the bilingual service offerings at an Open House at the Service Canada Centre today.

"This Centre is part of the Government of Canada's continued commitment to deliver federal programs and services to Canadians," said MP Glover. "By working with the Francophone community, we will continue to deliver quality services in both official languages to more members of this community."

The Service Canada Centre, located at 1001 St. Mary's Road, hosted an Open House showcasing an interactive and flexible environment with access to bilingual services for the Francophone community in Winnipeg. The Open House is in the spirit of Le Festival du Voyageur, a 10-day province-wide celebration of Francophone culture and community.

The Service Canada Centre in St. Vital is one of over 600 points of service in communities throughout Canada. Some of the programs and services that local residents can access at the bilingual centre include Employment Insurance, Social Insurance Numbers, the Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security.

Service Canada continues to deliver on its goal to provide Canadians with one-stop, personalized service they can access however they choose—by Internet, telephone or in-person.
