Government of Canada Supporting Quebec Communities

SAINT-JEAN-DE-BRÉBEUF, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - April 8, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Christian Paradis, Member of Parliament for Mégantic-L'Érable, Minister of International Development and Minister for La Francophonie, announces that the Municipality of Saint-Jean-de-Brébeuf has been granted funding to improve and expand an existing community hall.

This support has been awarded in the form of a $100,000 non-repayable contribution through the Local Investment Initiative (LII), a component of CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

• The funds will enable the Municipality of Saint-Jean-de-Brébeuf to carry out essential renovations to the building. This will include removing the bell tower and repairing and insulating the roof, replacing some of the building's doors and windows and fixing structures damaged by water infiltration.
  
  
• The LII, a temporary initiative specific to CED, helps promote economic development capacity-building for the long-term benefit of Quebec communities.
  
  
• This initiative stimulates local investment while ensuring citizens have access to safer and more functional community halls that are better suited to their needs.
