Government of Canada Supports Aluminium Industry


SAGUENAY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 3, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that Trans-Al Network Inc. has been granted financial assistance to pursue its activities with companies operating in the aluminium sector.

"Our Government supports organizations that, like Trans-Al Network, promote research, innovation, networking and market development and contribute to the diversification of the economy and job creation," said Minister Lebel.

The network's mission is to assist companies in the aluminium transformation sector to develop technical and technological expertise by collaborating with Quebec's key players and building synergy within the industry. Established in 1996, the Trans-Al Network is an essential partner in the industry.

In addition to ensuring continuation of the Trans-Al Network's activities, the funding from Canada Economic Development will also serve to support the NRC Aluminium Technology Centre's Access to Technology Project and update statistics of the Canadian Aluminium Transformation Technology Roadmap. These interventions are sure to have a positive impact on the development of this crucial industry sector.

This assistance, granted in the form of a $563,933 non-repayable contribution, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.
