Government of Canada supports Corporation plein air de la Lievre community project

Nautical centre reception building and facilities to be renovated

GATINEAU, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Nov. 28, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Local stakeholders have long been asking for concrete, sustainable measures to improve community and recreational infrastructure. The Government of Canada is proud to invest in projects that, like this one by Corporation plein air de la Lièvre, contribute to the strength and vitality of all regions of the country.

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, Stéphane Lauzon, Member of Parliament for Argenteuil-La Petite-Nation and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Sports and Persons with Disabilities, today announced that Corporation plein air de la Lièvre has been granted $112,227 in non-repayable funding to enhance the use and accessibility of the reception building and facilities of its nautical centre.

Established in 2009, Corporation plein air de la Lièvre is a non-profit organization that offers outdoor and tourism activities in eastern Gatineau and surrounding municipalities. The organization rents out canoes, kayaks, rabaskas, paddleboards and pedal boats and gives guided tours on the river. The funding, awarded through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150), will enable the Corporation to renovate the centre's reception building, enlarge the docking area, install an alarm system and add a wharf for boarding.
