Government of Canada Supports Development of Water Treatment Technology

Saskatoon-based Delco Automation Inc. recognized as a Canadian Innovation Leader

SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwire - Sept. 29, 2010) - Canadian communities affected by water treatment issues may soon find solutions, thanks to an investment by the Government of Canada to Delco Automation Inc., a Saskatoon business.

Delco Automation Inc. will receive $549,625 from the National Research Council of Canada's Industrial Research Assistance Program to successfully develop energy and cost efficient solutions for water treatment issues affecting small Canadian communities.

"Our government is investing in science and technology to create good jobs, strengthen the economy and improve Canadians' quality of life," said Maurice Vallacott, Member of Parliament for Saskatoon–Wanuskewin, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology). "This investment will help advance water treatment technology and bring potable water to Canadian homes."

A Canadian Innovation Leader Certificate was presented to Delco Automation Inc. to highlight its success as an innovative Canadian firm that has successfully linked scientific research to commercialization, jobs and economic growth. The presentation was made during an event entitled Water: Everybody's Business, hosted by the Saskatchewan Federal Council in Saskatoon.

"We would not have been as successful as we are today without the strong commitment from our IRAP Industrial Technology Advisor, CSIR, and governmental programs such as the Industrial Research Assistance Program."
