Government of Canada supports growth of Technicolor Canada

MPC Montreal, subsidiary of the French multinational, to position itself as the world's leading visual effects studio!

MONTRÉAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - July 31, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that Technicolor Canada has been granted financial assistance to acquire equipment for image processing and information security and to pursue expansion of its MPC studio in Montréal.

This support is being awarded in the form of a $2,000,000 repayable financial contribution through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

  • The funding will enable Technicolor Canada to carry out phases II and III of the expansion plan for its visual effects studio in Montréal. Technicolor provides production, post-production and distribution services to content creators, network service providers and broadcasters worldwide.
  • The company must acquire necessary information technology and projection equipment in order to position its MPC studio as the largest in the world for the group's films.
  • The enterprise intends to establish a training centre, Campus MPC, for 3D animation graduates. This initiative, the first of its kind for Montréal's visual effects industry, will help address the labour shortage in the special effects sector.

Quote
