Government of Canada Supports Merinov

ÎLES-DE-LA-MADELEINE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - June 16, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announces that Merinov has been granted financial assistance that will allow the organization to pursue and intensify its technology transfer and applied research activities with businesses operating in the fisheries, aquaculture, valorization and marine biotechnology sectors.

This funding is being awarded in the form of a $155,598 non-repayable contribution through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.

• Merinov is a fisheries and aquaculture innovation centre established in 2010. Its activities are aimed at building new knowledge and technologies to further the development of Quebec's fisheries, aquaculture and aquatic biomass valorization industries.
• This investment will enable Merinov to acquire state-of-the-art equipment for research and development that will translate into more effective technology transfer and applied research.
