Government of Canada Supports Quebec City Winter World Masters Games 2015

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Jan. 30, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that funding was granted to the Québec City Winter World Masters Games 2015 for the marketing of the event outside Quebec.

This support was awarded in the form of $180,000 in non-repayable financial assistance through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

• The investment enabled the Games' organizers to carry out various activities aimed both at optimizing the participation of athletes and their entourages from outside Quebec and at promoting the Québec City region's winter attractions on these same markets (Canada, United States and Europe).
  
  
• In addition to highlighting the region's winter sports and tourism offerings, the 2015 Québec City Winter World Masters Games will help generate economic spinoffs for Québec, including a significant level of tourism spending by out-of-province visitors.
