The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, welcomes today's official opening of the upgraded facilities at the community centre in the Village Municipality of Grandes-Piles.

The Municipality received $600,000 in non-repayable funding through CED's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF) to carry out this project.

Quick facts

  • The financial support enabled the Municipality to renovate and expand its community centre, which included carrying out improvements to the walls, roof, windows, interior staircase, floor coverings and electrical and plumbing systems.
  • This project contributed to the growth of the local economy by providing work to local labourers for the execution of these upgrades.

Quote

I want to warmly congratulate everyone who took part, directly or indirectly, in making this project a reality."
