Government of Canada Supports Sherbrooke International Life Sciences Summit

From September 28 to 30, 2015, Sherbrooke to welcome key players from the pharmaceutical and medical technologies industry in Canada and abroad to SILS

SHERBROOKE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - May 25, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that Sherbrooke Innopole has been granted funding for the organization of the 2nd Sherbrooke International Life Sciences Summit (SILS).

This assistance is being awarded in the form of a $25,000 non-repayable financial contribution through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

  • This Summit will help further build the life sciences network in Estrie by, among other things, forging links between the region's businesses and research centres and those from elsewhere in Quebec, the rest of Canada and around the world.
  • SILS will be an opportunity to showcase the region's advantages in order to attract foreign enterprises to Sherbrooke.

Quote

"Our government has chosen to support SILS because this event will serve to strengthen the life sciences hub, a major job-creating sector that promotes the economic competitiveness of the Estrie region and the country as a whole."
