Government of Canada Supports Start-up of Espace entrepreneuriat region Thetford


THETFORD MINES, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - March 4, 2015) - Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Christian Paradis, Member of Parliament for Mégantic-L'Érable and Minister of International Development and Minister for La Francophonie, today announced that financial assistance has been provided to ensure the establishment of the new business incubator Espace entrepreneuriat région Thetford (E2RT).

This support has been awarded in the form of a $1,931,331 non-repayable financial contribution through the Canadian Initiative for the Economic Diversification of Communities Reliant on Chrysotile.

  • The funding will go toward the start-up and operation of the E2RT incubator for the next three years.
  • A major priority for the community, E2RT complements the regional business development ecosystem. Its activities will have a structuring effect on the regional economy as a whole since the new NPO will support projects to diversify the economy of the Des Appalaches RCM.
  • The Canadian Initiative for the Economic Diversification of Communities Reliant on Chrysotile aims to support projects linked with the economic diversification of the Des Appalaches and Des Sources RCMs that have the potential to create jobs in the short and long terms.
