BROMONT, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - June 10, 2010) - On behalf of the Honourable Gary Lunn, Minister of State (Sport), the Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Natural Resources, today announced funding to Equine Canada in support of the CCI Bromont International Three-Day Event.

"We are pleased to support the CCI Bromont International Three-Day Event," said Minister Paradis. "Thanks to this competition, the top riders in the country will face off against the world's best at Bromont's Olympic Horse Park. We are happy to welcome competitors from around the world and to help our riders showcase their skills right here at home."

"Equine Canada would like to thank the Government of Canada for this contribution in support of the CCI Bromont International Three-Day Event," said Akaash Maharaj, Chief Executive Officer of Equine Canada. "This competition provides an exceptional opportunity for our team members to compete at home against some of the best riders in the world."

The CCI Bromont International Three-Day Event will be held from June 10 to 13, 2010, at the Bromont Olympic Park. Bromont is the sole Olympic-level three-day event held in Canada and the only Canadian three-day event recognized and sanctioned by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI). It is the only top-level event in the world to be run on an Olympic site. Riders from the United States, France, Great Britain, India, Belgium, Sweden, and Canada have submitted entries to compete.

The Government of Canada believes that hosting international sport events such as the CCI Bromont International Three-day Event provides direct and significant sport, economic, and social benefits to Canadians and their communities.

The Government of Canada is the single largest contributor to sport in Canada and supports participation and excellence in sport from the playground to the podium. A contribution of $49,999 is being provided to Equine Canada in support of the CCI Bromont International Three-day event through Sport Canada's Hosting Program.
