Government of Canada Supports Two Economic Development Projects in Bonaventure RCM

SAINT-ELZÉAR, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - July 10, 2014) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that solidarity co-op, CONTACT, and its joint venture, CONTACT HABITAT, which specializes in wood processing, have been granted financial assistance to help ensure their growth.

This assistance, totalling $389,000, has been awarded in the form of two repayable contributions, one of $239,000 to solidarity co-op CONTACT and the other of $150,000 to CONTACT HABITAT, through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

  • The financial assistance allocated to solidarity co-op CONTACT will serve to upgrade and develop its ecological exterior wood siding division and manufacturing plant, CONTACT Signature. Specifically, the company will use the funding from CED to purchase production equipment and expand the plant.
  • The support awarded to the new joint venture, CONTACT HABITAT, which specializes in small prefabricated turnkey construction, will enable it to start up and launch its component assembly operations. CED's assistance will serve to purchase equipment and build a warehouse.
  • Both projects will contribute to strengthening the economic growth of the Bonaventure RCM.
