Government of Canada to Launch a Consultative Committee on Language at Work

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 24, 2011) - The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry, today announced that the Government of Canada will launch a consultative committee to review the situation regarding language of work in Quebec's federally regulated private businesses.

"Our government is committed to promoting and protecting the French language in Canada," said Minister Paradis. "That is why our Government is proud to announce the launch of consultations that will assess whether a problem exists with the language of work in federally regulated businesses."

The consultative committee will seek the views of stakeholders to examine whether employees of federally regulated private businesses in Quebec are fully able to work in French.
