Government of Canada Unveils Canada Pavilion Design

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 27, 2010) - The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today gave media a sneak preview of the Canada Pavilion for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The event took place on site at Vancouver's LiveCity Downtown celebration venue.

"Our pavilion will offer a truly Canadian experience and will showcase Canada's pursuit of excellence in sport—past, present, and future," said Minister Moore. "The best of Canada's sport history will be on display for Canadians and visitors from around the world."

Exterior elements of the Canada Pavilion will include messages of encouragement to our athletes and news about breaking events, which will scroll across an LED curtain throughout the day. Inside the pavilion, visitors can use interactive technologies to learn about Canadian sport excellence, including Canada's Olympic and Paralympic history, trivia and visual displays illustrating Canadian innovation in sporting equipment and technology, and virtual snowboard and slapshot games.

"These are just some examples of the features and activities that will be part of the Canada Pavilion and that will complement and build on the excitement and momentum generated by the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games," added Minister Moore. "These are Canada's Games, and I'm confident that visitors to the Pavilion will be as impressed with Canadian sport excellence as we are."

The Government of Canada is a major partner in ensuring successful Winter Games in 2010 and will strive to maximize Canadians' investment in the Games.
