Government Technology Announces the GovTech100

Bringing $1 Billion in Venture Capital to State and Local Government Innovation

SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwired - January 20, 2016) - Government Technology magazine unveiled its inaugural GovTech100, a compendium of 100 companies focused exclusively on selling to -- and making a difference in -- the state and local government market. The GovTech100 are companies that are developing innovative or disruptive offerings to improve government -- or creating new models for transforming service delivery altogether.

"Until now, there hasn't been a simple way to discover the innovative GovTech companies working to improve government agencies across the country," said Dustin Haisler, chief innovation officer at e.Republic. "The GovTech100 was created to recognize such companies and raise awareness of their profound work in a single, online location. This initiative also provides validation of the exponentially increasing momentum of the GovTech market. From a startup that built an operating system for waste management (Compology) to a company that catalyzed e-government (NIC) in the 1990s -- the GovTech100 exemplifies the power of public-private partnerships in transforming government. We look forward to following these companies over the next year and learning about new companies and stories emanating from the GovTech market."

GovTech100 companies represent a cumulative infusion of $1 billion in venture capital and countless hours of sweat equity into the state and local government market. The companies, some of them as yet unproven, create new options and opportunities for public agencies to tap startup entrepreneurship to improve internal processes, transparency and service delivery.

As part of this program, Government Technology also recognized five "companies to watch in the year ahead." The GovTech 5 to Watch include: CityGrows, ClearGov, One Concern, ProudCity and
